Spring is in the air with the arrival of the baby chicks.

We have been lucky enough to have the baby chicks visiting our room. They still need to be under the heat lamp as they were too small to keep themselves warm. Everyone thought that they were pretty special and very cute

The little chicks stole the hearts of everyone.

Print Making

WALT make prints.

This is how we made it.

  • take wool and wind it around a wooden block
  • tape the ends of the wool down to ensure it doesn't come loose
  • paint over the one side of the block
  • make eight prints (two up, two sideways)
  • make two rows of the prints.

Creating our own instruments

We have been learning about sound and how sound influences how we feel.

The song by Gary Barlow, "Sing" was our inspiration to create our own instruments. Listen to the song and watch the video to see how creative people are, in different countries and all over the world.
Here is the link: Sing by Gary Barlow

We have also discovered that music is an international language and that you do not need to understand the words to understand or feel the music.

Here are some of the instruments we have created. We played these instruments along with the song too. It sounded amazing.

Olivia filled these tins with water and she made two symbals.

We have used waste materials like plastic containers, gift wrap, cardboard, elastic bands, shells, etc.  to create our instruments.

Reading is all around us

We were finding out how reading can help us. This is what we found in and around the school.

Reading can help us stay safe like when you read this sign.

This sign helps us to be kind to others. The pictures help us to understand the words.

Sometimes pictures have words in them like this tree. This mural tells people more about Clevedon School and words and pictures were used in it.

We can read numbers like the ones on this clock. Other numbers can be the numbers on a number plate or our telephone numbers. They are all important.
