Art and what it is.

We are learning about  the arts and how it can be used to communicate ideas and experiences creatively.

Here is a brainstorm to show you what we think art is.

Some famous paintings that we have identified:

House Spirit Day!

Lining up before the parade.

The parade!

Waiting in the hall for the skits to start.
Kiwi House
Tui House

Weka House

Kaka House

We had a fantastic day! Well done to Weka and Kaka who were the winning teams this year.

It was such a great day that it deserved more than the normal high fives so Room 14 decided to do their latest version.

Swimming Sports

On Friday, 11 March the year 0-3 students participated in our annual Junior Swimming Sports Day. Here you can see some of the events we competed in.

Blowing a table tennis ball across the width of the pool.

Running across the pool keeping a magazine dry.

Getting ready to start the race.

Kicking across the pool while holding a kick board.

Waiting in the shade on our races.

Getting into the pool.

Ice cream sticks were added to our house colour baskets after every race. This way we could earn some house points too.
Running through the pool.

We also swam the width and the length in free style and backstroke.
What a fun filled day we had!

Colours make us feel.....

Yes, we are still discovering more about colours and we are still making connections with the book 'The day the crayons quit'. We have realised that colours can be linked to how we feel and can sometimes give us messages too.

Here are some ideas on how a colour can give us a message

We have used our thinking to write about how colours make us feel. Read more about our ideas.

Soccer

We had a fun lesson learning new skills and playing a game or two when three coaches came to introduce soccer to us. First we had to dribble the ball ensuring we had control of the ball and moving between the cones. Next we had game time so we wore different coloured bibs and we even had goalies defending the goal areas. It was hard work because we had to run heaps and the hot summer weather made it tough on us. We all tried our best and had fun, fun, fun! Lucas won the medal as the player of the day. We can't wait for next Monday when many of us are going to start our soccer lessons at lunch times.
